Overview

The Panzerbeobachtungswagen IV was a specialised armoured artillery observation vehicle based on the chassis of Germany's workhorse Panzer IV tank. To avoid being singled out on the battlefield, it retained its turret and a dummy main gun to look like a standard tank, but its interior was completely reconfigured. It was packed with advanced radio equipment and observation optics, serving as the forward eyes for German artillery batteries.
